I purchased a few products from backcountry skinz. My initial thoughts upon opening the package was “this has a very strong chemical smell, I bet it was made in china” and sure enough they are made in china. That’s pretty disappointing to pay a premium price for a product that was made for most likely very little. I was expecting something made in Canada or somewhere similar based on the price I paid. I looked all over the website to see if it said where they are made, and I couldn’t find it anywhere. Almost like they don’t want you to know. If they want to make their products in China that’s their choice, but they should at least own that and advertise it. The next disappointment was my neoprene wading socks were either printed inside out, or the hook was installed backwards. Not a huge deal as they seem to be reversible, but still a disappointment. The hook on the wading socks does not seem to be attached as well as the hook on my simms wading socks and the seams aren’t as flat and nice. Trust me I’m not in love with some of simms quality issues either but the wading socks seem to be better quality that the backcountry skinz.
On a positive note the wading pants seem to work well so far. The one downside so far is the smell after you wear them for a while. I’ve tried washing them several times with soap designed for wet suits and treated them with gear aid odor remover and it helps but they still have a slight odor of dirty socks. Well that’s my honest review. I hope it informs someone out interested in backcountry skinz products.
All my purchases over the last few years have been easy, accurate and in my hands quickly. High marks on quality!
I love my backcountry wet wading leggings . I purchased the neoprene socks for my wading boots and they are great quality , fit perfectly and I do t wet wise without them. Since then, I have purchased the green shorts and wool water proof socks. Next up with be the green camo sun hoodie. I literally have become a poster child for the company. The freedom that their wet wading clothing has changed the way I fish during the hot summer months. No more hot waders for me!
They ship very fast. Does take a little time if you live in the US. It takes about a week and a half. Great company. Have several of their products and all have been great.
I wore both this past week under my waders because I was fly fishing in Alaska and they did great on the hikes and would have breathed a lot better if I didn’t have the waders on. They kept me warm when I needed it and reasonably cool and flexible on the 6 mile hikes to our spots on the river.
Good I ended up with a perfect fit and the product I wanted Ytube videos help new buyers. I saw a person wearing your product on a video and i was so curious i began to search.
Outstanding product. I really enjoy wet wading in your leggings. The experience is cooler and more flexible than traditional waders.
I have not used them yet, except for around the house, been extremely busy, but I believe they’re gonna work the way I wanted them to and they’re supposed to. Thank you guys for coming out with this product.
Laird Richards here, I wore the solarflex daily while fishing for most of the month of July in Idaho.
The weather ranged from 70 to the high 80's to low 90's and I was amazing comfortable wet wading in all conditions.
Great compression and breathability, and they dry quickly.
They give you the ability to move smoothly and effortlessly through the water.
I highly recommed them to all warm weather, wet wading fishermen.
