I've had the pleasure of working with Backcountry Skinz through my company, VM Promotional — we've produced embroidered hats and hoodies for them, and they've been fantastic to work with from start to finish. Mike and Kelly clearly put their heart into everything they build, and it shows in the product line: technical wet-wading gear like their waterproof Merino wool and neoprene socks, and perforated neoprene wading pants, all clearly designed by people who actually fish.
Full disclosure, I'm not an angler myself, so I don't own their core wading gear, but I do have a pair of their waterproof socks and they're genuinely impressive — well made, comfortable, and it's obvious a lot of thought went into the design.
What stands out most is how much they practice what they preach. This isn't a brand slapping a logo on generic gear — Mike and Kelly are passionate fishermen building products for people who share that passion, and it's carved them a real niche in the fly fishing and wet-wading space. Highly recommend both the products and the people behind them.

Shopped online, bought on sale, products arrived promptly and fit perfectly. Three years ago I decided that wet wading was the way to go and your products the best on the market. I was not disappointed-3 years of hard usage and now I have a brand new set. Look forward to the next three years.
I am an outfitter and guide here in AK. So the weather and conditions can be tough on gear and us guides. The backcountry Skinz are awesome, they are perfect for in between day's! Where waders are too hot but temps are are still cold to be just wet wading. They keep you warm and allow for great movement moving boats, getting in and out, and chasing down fish and clients. The owner's are very communicative and are true fisherman! Highly recommend!

I'd always use traditional waiters, but now, especially in the summer, I'm using the Backcountry Skinz a bunch.
They just allow you to move a lot better, more easily, and are generally more versatile. 100% recommend

Great people to work with and I’m really enjoying both the Airblitz waders and the guide socks.
There was a slight flaw in one of the tack seams on the first pair of waders I ordered. The Backcountry Skinz staff was very quick to respond to the issue and get a replacement out to me. These are very well constructed and pleasant to use. I appreciate the low-drag surface in the water and they’re just so comfortable to wear.

I purchased a few products from backcountry skinz. My initial thoughts upon opening the package was “this has a very strong chemical smell, I bet it was made in china” and sure enough they are made in china. That’s pretty disappointing to pay a premium price for a product that was made for most likely very little. I was expecting something made in Canada or somewhere similar based on the price I paid. I looked all over the website to see if it said where they are made, and I couldn’t find it anywhere. Almost like they don’t want you to know. If they want to make their products in China that’s their choice, but they should at least own that and advertise it. The next disappointment was my neoprene wading socks were either printed inside out, or the hook was installed backwards. Not a huge deal as they seem to be reversible, but still a disappointment. The hook on the wading socks does not seem to be attached as well as the hook on my simms wading socks and the seams aren’t as flat and nice. Trust me I’m not in love with some of simms quality issues either but the wading socks seem to be better quality that the backcountry skinz.
On a positive note the wading pants seem to work well so far. The one downside so far is the smell after you wear them for a while. I’ve tried washing them several times with soap designed for wet suits and treated them with gear aid odor remover and it helps but they still have a slight odor of dirty socks. Well that’s my honest review. I hope it informs someone out interested in backcountry skinz products.
